To be a human being born into this world is like figuring out a puzzle – or a maybe Rubic’s cube. Why am I here? How does it all work? Is there an instruction manual?
If you land on the Bible, you’ve found the treasure map!!
The first thing a seeker must realize he has is choices. The writer of the instruction manual and the designer and manufacturer of this planet tells us – There are only 2 choices.
THE TWO CHOICES
See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse — 27 the blessing, if you listen to the mitzvot of Adonai your God that I am giving you today; 28 and the curse, if you don’t listen to the mitzvot of Adonai your God, but turn aside from the way I am ordering you today and follow other gods that you have not known. Deut. 11:26-28
THE CHOICE OF THE CURSE
We look around us and find a broken world filled with suffering, corruption, poverty, and war. We experience chronic illness, family dissension, and addiction. Our minds and bodies endure abuse. The Bible has a name for this kind of dysfunction—it called “the curse”. Most who are afflicted are unaware that they have chosen the curse – or perhaps they were unaware it chose them.
THE GOD OF ALL CREATION
It would seem fitting when determining who should be your mentor, your teacher , your Savior— one should naturally choose the God of all Creation. Getting to know Him and learning how to have a relationship with Him is foremost. The more one finds out about this Most High, Sovereign God the more wonderful He becomes – provided that the creation bows rightly before this all-powerful Creator.
OTHER GODS
It doesn’t take long to figure out there is good and evil in the world. Every child knows that. And that there is a purposeful opposer to all that is good. All malevolent spiritual forces challenge God and His Creation – especially those humans who have chosen God Almighty to be their God. According to the scripture above (Deut. 11:26-28) following other gods that you have not known does not mean one bows to physical idols or statues, – it has to do with submitting your will to the spirits that turn you away from God.
Any time you prefer yourself to God’s instruction you are bowing to the ungodly things and spiritual elements of the Earth not to the Spirit of God.
Though we live in this world and are invited to use its many resources we are not to worship them. To do so is to bow down to a demon called Mammon.
Apparently many that are trapped by Mammon grow to love the luxuries of this world and have weaken to their hold over them. This type of greed leads to the worship of material things.
Mammon also is also a lying spirit and a god of self-pleasure, tempting and tantalizing the weaker ones into sexual immorality, drugs, drunkenness, theft and witchcraft. The worship of Pleasure – the Worship of Self.
“Going after other gods” is coined by God Himself as “Forsaking God”.
WHEN GOD IS FORSAKEN
Just like the blessed life is a result of life with God, the cursed life is a result of a life without God.
“The Lord will send on you curses, confusion, and frustration in all that you undertake to do, until you are destroyed and perish quickly on account of the evil of your deeds, because you have forsaken me. Deuteronomy 28:20
God spells it out. It’s easy to determine right from wrong, good from evil. But how do you know where you stand?
Children, don’t be fooled. Anyone who does right is good, just like Christ himself. 8 Anyone who keeps on sinning belongs to the devil. He has sinned from the beginning, but the Son of God came to destroy all that he has done. 9 God’s children cannot keep on being sinful. His life-giving power lives in them and makes them his children, so they cannot keep on sinning. 10 You can tell God’s children from the devil’s children, because those who belong to the devil refuse to do right or to love each other. 1 John 1: 7-10
When one rejects evil and the curse then one must now choose Yeshua the Messiah. One must pray and repent. Once must ask Yeshua to come in and redeem them from the curse.
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
CHOOSING BLESSING
If you have chosen blessing – the Bible also says beware! As blessing comes with a warning:
Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth (blessing).’ 18 You shall REMEMBER The LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers. Deuteronomy 8.17
To stay humble is the key. Depend on God for everything. Because when you chose Him – you died with Him and are now raised back into a new life in Him. You must decrease and He must increase.
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Gal. 2:20
EXPANDING OR SHRINKING
Your old self is now gone but the biblical understanding of blessing is meant to expand your new life and Godly influence. In blessings you, God gives you a never-ending full cup of His Spirit.
The sinner is shrinking. Sin shrinks and shrivels the heart, because the sinner is perishing.
The blessing of God is to be like God- showing forth his awesome qualities. In so doing, the blessed ones expand and fill the earth with His goodness. We advance His goodness of His Kingdom and we magnify the power of His Love and His Knowledge . He wants more for us than we could ever imagine. He desires that His children know him in all his fullness. He wants you set free to know truth and He wants to make your life bigger than it is now. In dying to yourself, you find that your new life multiplies, bringing joy and peace.
