Concern with Denominational Affiliation

Question: In your book Just a Little Girl,  you’ve given readers a very unusual view into various Protestant denominations as you and your husband were searching for church homes over the years. What is it about denominational affiliation that concerns you?

Answer: The problem with “denominations” is that they divide the body of Christ. Each one has a core truth based on revelations that were realized by reformed Christians coming out of the Dark ages. However, the problem with reforming is the fact that there’s always a group left behind. I feel the answer is not “reformation” but rather “restoration”. Restoration in fact, back to the first century theology of Yeshua, the very faith that He taught and lived out long before the Gentile Universal Church repackaged His faith in the 4th century. After all, He observed the feasts of Leviticus 23; honored the Saturday Sabbath and was deeply connected to Jewish traditions and customs. When I married my Romanian husband, I personally desired to learn of his family traditions in order to teach them to our children. When we adopted our son who was four years old we had to teach him “our family ways”. This is no different from discovering the “ways” of Yeshua. It occurred to me I had changed Yeshua’s Jewish identity to match my own culture. I was actually excited to know Him in His original context. If all Christians approached Yeshua in His Jewishness and learn to literally walk as He walked we might stop our bickering and be as one as He prayed in John 17:21

I want all of them to be one with each other, just as I am one with you and you are one with me. I also want them to be one with us. Then the people of this world will believe that you sent me.
