THE PERFECT LAMB OF GOD OF ISAIAH 53

THE THEME OF THIS DEVOTION IS:

Only The Perfect Lamb of God, “the “Zeroa (Arm) THE LORD,” Jesus of Nazareth, the Root and Branch of David (Romans 1:1-6), can be the fulfillment of the Perfect Sacrifice for High-Handed Sin (Pesha, Transgression) described in Isaiah 53. The Nation of Israel cannot be that sacrifice since such would violate the Levitical Principle of “without spot and without blemish.”

Furthermore, no animal sacrifice can fulfill this prophecy which has to do with the enactment of the Divine Akeida foreshadowed in Abraham’s offering of Isaac on Mount Moriah in Genesis 22 and fulfilled in the lifting up of Jesus (ben Adam, ben Elohim—Son of Man, Son of GOD), on the Cross at Golgotha in the Gospels and in Psalm 22.”

Note that after the crucifixion of Jesus on the cross the Scapegoat Sacrifice no longer turned the crimson strap white. (According to Josephus)

This brief devotion however, will focus on the aspect of “without blemish.”

LO TIZ’BACH LE’Y’’H ELO’HEI’CHA                              You shall not sacrifice to the LORD your God

SHOHR VA’SHE                                                            ox or sheep

ASHER YI’YEH BO MOOM                                           in which there is a blemish

KOL DAVAR RA                                                            any defect whatever (Owens)

KI TOH’EI’VACH Y’’H ELO’HEI’CHA HOO                     for it is an abomination to the LORD your God.

(Deuteronomy 17:1)

Isaiah 53:5 and 8 make it clear that the sacrifice of Isaiah 53 is for “our rebellious sins” (Pesha) and “My Peoples’ sin” (MI’PESHA AMI). The word for rebellious sin in both verses is from the Hebrew root PE-SHIN-AYIN. The BDB reference lexicon (p. 833) says of this root:

“Verb, rebel, transgress.” This is what is meant by “high-handed, flagrant sin or transgression.” This is sin with knowledge and intention. The nominal form is translated “transgression.”

The BDB study shows how God deals with this most-serious of all sins:

“God deals with it by:

Visiting it (Amos 3:14; Psalm 89:24)

Dealing with one according to it (Ezekiel 39:24)

Making it known to the sinner (Job 13:23; 36:9)

Punishing it (by The Arm of the LORD, vicariously) because of it (MI’PESHA) Isaiah 53:5, 8—our text above);

And according to it (AL-; Amos 2:4,5).”

The only reference to PE’SHA in Leviticus is found in chapter 16 verse 16 concerning the goat for the LORD over which is made by the High Priest confession of the unclean condition (TU-MOHT) and transgressions [REBELLIOUS SINS, PE’SHA] of the Whole People of Israel.

Therefore, from the Priestly Perspective of Isaiah 53 it is the “Zeroah (ARM) of the LORD”—(the Goat of Sacrifice on Yom Kippur over which the lot was cast for Y’’H)—that Pesha was covered, passed over, forgiven, pardoned and removed (various texts in the rest of the scriptures).

“HE was wounded for OUR transgressions;

HE was bruised for OUR iniquities;

The chastisement for OUR peace was upon HIM;

And by HIS stripes WE are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

THE SINFUL PEOPLE (OUR, WE) ARE NOT THE UNBLEMISHED SACRIFICE FOR THEMSELVES.

“HE was taken from prison and from judgment:

and who shall declare HIS generation?

For HE was cut off out of the land of the living:

For the transgression (PE’SHA) OF MY PEOPLE was HE stricken. (Isaiah 53:6)

“And HE made HIS grave with the wicked, and with the rich in HIS death;

Because HE had done no violence, neither was any deceit in HIS mouth.

“Yet it pleased THE LORD to bruise HIM;

He (HA’SHEM) has put HIM (Messiah) to grief;

When You (HA’SHEM) shall make HIS (Messiah’s) soul an offering for sin (A’SHAM, accomplished in the crucifixion)

He shall see HIS seed (through the New Birth),

He shall prolong HIS days (by the Resurrection)

and the pleasure of HA’SHEM THE LORD shall prosper in HIS (Messiah’s hand, the righteous rule of Messiah).

He shall see of the travail of HIS soul and shall be satisfied (“It is FINISHED”):

By HIS knowledge (Messiah’s Personal Lifetime of Testing on behalf of Sinful Man after which on the cross He interceded to the Father, saying, “Father forgive them, for they know no what they do”)

shall my RIGHTEOUS SERVANT (Sinless Son of God / Son of Man)

justify many (“whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life),

for HE shall bear THEIR iniquities (A’VON).

“Therefore will I (HA’SHEM) divide HIM a portion with the great, and HE shall divide the spoil with the strong; because HE has poured out HIS soul unto death: and HE was numbered with the transgressors (PE’SHA); and he bare the sin (CHA’TAH) of many, and made intercession for the transgressors (PE’SHA).”

THE UNCLEAN, TRANSGRESSOR NATION CANNOT BE ITS OWN SPOTLESS AND UNBLEMISHED SACRIFICE.

THE ONLY SACRIFICE THAT AVAILS FOR INTENTIONAL SIN IS THE SON OF GOD, JUST AS WAS FORESHADOWED IN THE AKEIDA when Abraham said to Isaac,

ELOHIM YIR’EH-LO HAS’SHE LE’OLAH:           GOD will provide to Himself the Sacrificial Lamb of Elevation.

THIS IS THE SACRIFICE OF OUR LORD JESUS ON THE CROSS AS SHOWN IN DETAIL IN PSALM 22.

THANK YOU, BELOVED LORD MESSIAH, FOR YOUR UNBLEMISHED SACRIFICE FOR OUR REBELLIOUS SINS.
