Scripture reveals that God declares “the end from the beginning” and unfolds His divine purposes throughout history.
“Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other… declaring the end from the beginning.” Isaiah 46:9–10
The culmination of Revelation reveals the completion of God’s eternal purposes which consisted of:
- Redemption of Mankind (The Cross)
- The Outpouring of the Holy Spirit
- The Restoration of All Things (The Second Coming)
This final restoration includes:
- Judgment and Separation of Righteousness from the Wicked
- Reward and Retribution
- The Defeat of Evil Powers
- The Establishment of Messiah’s Kingdom
- The Restoration of Creation
- The Great White Throne Judgment
- The Creation of a New Heaven and New Earth
The book of Revelation ultimately points to one grand conclusion:
God dwelling with His people forever.
Understanding “Block Thinking” in Revelation
Revelation is not always written in strict chronological order.
John often revisits events from different perspectives to emphasize details and spiritual truths.
This Hebraic style of presentation is often called block thinking rather than purely linear thinking.
Events are revisited, expanded, and reemphasized in cycles.
Revelation 19 – The Return of the King
- Celebration in Heaven
After the bowls of judgment are poured out upon the unrighteous, heaven erupts in worship.
“Halleluyah! ADONAI… has begun His reign!” — Revelation 19:6
This is the great heavenly celebration before Messiah returns with His bride to Earth. The marriage supper of the Lamb is finally announced. The Bride in Heaven has prepared herself and is complete except for those believers on Earth who are waiting for His coming. The heavenly Saints are clothed in fine linen, symbolizing righteousness and purity made by Christ and are now ready to return with their Yeshua.
- The Warrior King Appears
Yeshua no longer appears as the suffering Lamb.
Now, He comes as:
- Warrior
- King
- Judge
“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse…” — Revelation 19:11
The imagery of the white horse and white cloud both portray divine transportation from the heavenly realm into Earth’s realm.
The armies of heaven follow Him. The army consists of
- Glorified Saints clothed in white
- Mighty Angels
Messiah and hosts descend to confront evil directly.
The First Resurrection in the Shekinah Cloud
The righteous dead are raised at Christ’s coming on the clouds.
“The dead in Christ will rise first.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17
Those still alive in Messiah are transformed and join the Saints in the clouds. This resurrection is called the better resurrection as the Saints receive glorified bodies like that of Messiah’s resurrected body:
- They are physical yet spiritual
- They are immortal
The Bride of Messiah is now complete.
Armageddon — The Final Battle Summary
The rebellious nations gather against Jerusalem. This coalition crosses the Euphrates River to oppose the Messiah and the Saints. It occurs at Har Megiddo (Armageddon). The rebellious humanity witnesses the terrifying majesty of the King of Kings entering battle with the armies of heaven behind Him. The rebellious armies are ultimately defeated and the false messiah and false prophet are captured and bound for 1,000 years.
The Birds of Judgment
An angel summons birds from across the earth: “Come, gather together for the great feast God is giving.” Revelation 19:17
Can you imagine the horrifying scene to the onlookers ready to fight from the nations? The immense number of Saints dazzling in white, the terrifying Majestic Warrior King in bloodstained clothes and millions upon millions of predator raptors circling the sky, crowding into trees and the surrounding the valley, ready and waiting to descend upon the carnage. God’s army is glorified and not one can be extinguished. The battlefield becomes a testimony to divine justice.
Revelation 20 – The Millennial Reign
Satan Bound
Satan is chained and confined for one thousand years.
“He seized the dragon… and chained him up for a thousand years.” — Revelation 20:2
During this period:
- Messiah Reigns on Earth
- The Nations learn Righteousness
- Peace Covers Creation
The Great White Throne Judgment
After the thousand-year reign:
- Satan is released briefly
- Rebellion is judged finally
- The unrighteous dead are resurrected. This is the second resurrection
“The sea gave up the dead that were in it and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.” Revelation 20:13
All evil and godless humanity must now stand before God. Books are opened. Every soul is judged according to their deeds. The wicked now must experience the final second death.
The New Jerusalem
The Holy City descends from heaven. The New Jerusalem represents more than a city.
It appears:
- As a bride prepared for her husband
- Dazzling with the Glory of God
- United and Joined with the Earth
This is the final union with:
- Covenant
- Heaven and Earth
- Creation joining in the Physical and the Spiritual
- Divine Union of God and Humanity
- The Eternal Dwelling Place of God
“God’s is now home with His people.”
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. Revelation 21:3
There is no evil on Earth or ever coming to Earth again for that matter. God tabernacles with humanity forever. The separation between heaven and earth disappears and everything becomes holy.
The Mishkan — God’s Dwelling Place
Throughout Scripture, God progressively reveals His dwelling place:
- In Eden
- In the wilderness Tabernacle (where He comes and goes)
- Solomon’s Temple (In the Holy of Holies)
- Messiah Dwelling among Humanity in Bodily Form
- The Believer’s Heart as God’s Temple
- The Eternal New Jerusalem
The earthly tabernacle was only a shadow. “A copy and shadow of the heavenly things.” Hebrews 8:5
The New Jerusalem is this eternal fulfillment.
The Foundations and Gates
The Holy City contains:
- Twelve Gates Named after the Tribes of Israel
- Twelve Foundations Named after the Apostles
This reveals the unity of:
- Covenant Israel
- The Apostles and Messiah’s Redeemed People
The Dazzling Light of God
The city shines with God’s glory.
There is no need for:
- Sun
- Moon
- Artificial light
The Lamb Himself is its light. The precious stones of the foundations refract divine glory in radiant beauty. The beautiful city literally dazzles with heavenly light.
The Tree of Life Restored
The Tree of Life appears again. What humanity lost in Eden is restored in eternity.
“The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.” Revelation 22:2
The curse is gone. Death is defeated. Life flows endlessly from God Himself.
The Final Invitation
Revelation ends with an invitation to the thirsty in spirit.
God calls humanity to choose:
- Blessing or Cursing
- Life or Death
- Obedience or Rebellion
“I will freely give water from the life-giving fountain to everyone who is thirsty.” Revelation 21:6
The Kingdom of God culminates in eternal union with His people. Everything is restored. Everything is fulfilled.
Conclusion
The message of Revelation is not only about destruction and retribution. It’s also about restoration.
It is the unveiling of God’s eternal plan when:
- Evil removed
- Creation healed
- Humanity redeemed
- Heaven is joined to earth
- God dwells forever with His people
The New Jerusalem is the final fulfillment of every covenant promise. And so, we wait in hope:
“But we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” 2 Peter 3:13
Blessed are those who are found waiting for it.
